Beef tongue is a seriously under-rated cut that you are going to love. This recipe is great for those on a carnivore diet, keto diet, animal-based diet, or low carb diet (but can and should be enjoyed by anyone).

It's time to face your fears and try cooking beef tongue. It has such a mild and delicious flavor (nothing like organs such as liver or kidney). It tastes similar to a beef roast and is very affordable. You're going to love it!
Here's a simple and easy beef tongue recipe for those on the carnivore diet—just meat, salt, butter, and water. Of course, you always have the option to add spices or aromatics if you feel good and enjoy eating them.
You can use a dutch oven, pressure cooker / instant pot, or crockpot. My preference is the dutch oven, but all will work great. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

What does beef tongue taste like?
It it very tender and has a similar flavor to beef roast. Believe it or not, most Mexican restaurants use beef tongue in tacos. So you've likely had it before without even knowing it. Try not to be nervous and give it a shot! It's such a great cut.
Do I have to use butter?
Nope! I love the flavor of beef tongue with butter, but you can just salt it after chopping at eat that way. Or you could saute it in beef tallow instead of butter.
Can I add spices and seasonings to my beef tongue?
Of course! This recipe is very adaptable whether you're doing a strict carnivore diet or more of a "ketovore" or "animal-based" diet. It can be enjoyed any way you like. I'd recommend using pepper, garlic, paprika, and onion if you choose to add spices.
